General Interest
The Dharma Salon is the long-running Friday night moderated discussion group, led by senior ACI students and generally focusing on the basic principles of Tibetan Buddhism. The Salon is often the first forum in which those with a new interest in Tibetan Buddhism come to learn more. Last year, the Dharma Salon was led by the Venerable Puntsok, ACI Director John Stillwell, UC Professor of Religion Brian Smith and James Conner. The series is open to all and frequently attracts people who never took a course in Buddhism. Topics covered last year included "Dependent Origination", the "Three Poisons" and their antidotes, the "Ripening of Karma" and the Three Pillars of Meditation, to "Reality of Mind and Things", and "Death Meditation", which clears away anxiety and leads to a more meaningful life. Dharma Salon is held Fridays from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Formal Study
The Three Jewels also hosts Formal Study courses in Buddhist Theory and Practice conducted through the auspices of the Asian Classics Institute (ACI). The Formal Study program provides the same curriculum to American Students as that taught in Tibetan Monastic Colleges. Enrollment is free for all courses; however all students must adhere strictly to attendance and coursework commitments.
