The New Three Jewels
The Three Jewels newly renovated space located on the Third Floor at 61 Lafayette St. (between 9th and 10th St) is large enough to accommodate two classes simultaneously. Those of you who might have used the old and cramped E 5th St facility you will immediately notice how much more spacious our new digs are.
The front half of the new space houses a multipurpose studio/classroom where workshops, dharma talks, formal classes, yoga and meditation classes are held. There is an additional studio in the back for yoga or mediation.
The center of the space houses a bookstore, yoga/meditation supply store, Tara Lending Library and Front desk. Separate coat/shoe room and changing areas round out the public space. There is also a reception area and office space for The Three Jewels, ACI (Asian Classics Institute) and ACIP (Asian Classics Input Project) activities.
Please visit us soon and become a regular part of our growing community of committed Buddhist practicioners and teachers.

Announcement#2
Following the publication of co-founder Geshe Michael Roach's two most recent books, "How Yoga Works" and "The Tibetan Book of Yoga", The Three Jewels decided to make yoga seminars, classes and workshops a focal point of its dharma activities. By doing so The Three Jewels became the first Buddhist yoga center in New York and perhaps the US. Many techniques of yoga are offered; however Tibetan Heart Yoga is the primary focus of the center due to its incorporation of Tonglen, a powerful Buddhist spiritual practice, in all its yoga practices and teachings. This unique aspect of Tibetan Yoga turns a mere "lifestyle" activity into a vehicle for achieving the kind of body and mind capable of helping countless beings. Tibetan Yoga was formerly taught only in monasteries to very advanced practitioners. The Yoga "Revolution" in the US led Geshe Michael to conclude that, as long as 30+ million Americans had the good fortune (Karma) to receive some form of yoga instruction it made sense to teach the true purpose and meaning of yoga, as originally set forth in the "Yoga Sutras" of Pantajali It is hoped that what has begun at The Three Jewels will take root throughout the country so that millions will learn to practice Yoga as a means of bringing happiness to all beings.
